About the Fundraiser
The Mimosa Mafia
After a few years of Born in a Barn, I realized that guests were waiting in line for the gates to open at 10. At this point, we didn’t even have food or beverages! But with everyone just waiting around, I thought we should start the day with mimosas.
Sell a few to raise money for a charity. And as with everything out here, what started out small has grown to be something huge!! We’ve gone from pitchers to 20-gallon coolers, from bottles of champagne to cases of champagne, and from one girl to an entire gang that I have named the Mimosa Mafia!! They now have golf carts and a pink tent in the food field and last year raised $13,000!! In total, we have raised close to $40,000 that we have given to Welch Cancer Center primarily for breast cancer and patient care.
I chose the Welch Cancer Center because both my Mom (twice) and my Dad are cancer survivors and received the best care from Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
My friend Candace Affeldt, with Gunpowder and Cabernet, graciously lines up servers and pays them. We have a plethora of volunteers from Sheridan Memorial Hospital show up and serve. And this year we are proud to welcome First Northern Bank as a major sponsor, providing the champagne and orange juice. Tony Larsen of American Outfitters comes in annually with the cup sponsorship.
This enables us to donate 100% of sales to the Welch Cancer Center. Cheers!!
If you are interested in sponsoring, let me know, it can just get bigger and better!
